Special Guests

  • Dr. Jane Hawking — Formerly Married To Stephen Hawking, Author of Travelling to Infinity (Screen adaptation was the Oscar-winning movie The Theory of Everything) & Cry To Dream Again
Dr Jane Hawking, Stephen Hawking’s wife for over twenty-five years, is a writer, teacher and public speaker. Her memoir Travelling to Infinity, which became an Oscar-winning movie in 2015 under the title The Theory of Everything and was a number-one bestseller in the UK, was followed in 2016 by the novel Silent Music, the first volume in the Immortal Souls series. Book number two Cry To Dream Again, is set in 1930s Greater London. Shirley is a talented ballerina who dreams of becoming a principal dancer at the Sadler’s Wells Ballet Company. Yet one summer, on the way back from staying with her grandparents in France, she meets a handsome young man, Alan, for a fleeting moment and her life changes for ever. Finding him becomes an obsession for Shirley and now she longs to fulfil her dreams in the ballet simply so that he might see her name in lights and know where to find her. With the outbreak of the Second World War, and those she loves in danger, Shirley’s priority becomes to help in the war effort, but with Alan appearing once more in her life, and the war threatening to part them for a second time, she knows that she cannot cope if she were to lose him again.

  • Randy Stonehill — A Founding Father of “Christian Rock”
Over forty years after the release of his first album (Born Twice 1971) and his subsequent 27 releases (including over 800 songs like “King of Hearts”, “Shut De Do”, and “American Fast Food”) it’s no wonder that Randy Stonehill was inducted into the Christian Music Hall Of Fame. The story of Randy Stonehill coming to Los Angeles in 1970 to apply for the job of “rock star” but finding Jesus instead has been told and retold innumerable times – often by Randy himself in songs like “Norman’s Kitchen”. His friendship with Larry Norman throughout the ‘70s has been celebrated in tunes and liner notes and more recently examined in the documentary film Fallen Angel. The contribution of this singer & songwriter over these multiple decades has been substantial – in first pioneering popular rock music with a Christian point of view and later demonstrating a consistency in holding to the faith through the trials and tribulations of ordinary life. Randy was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1985 for his duet with Amy Grant and in 1988 CCM Magazine acclaimed his 1976 album Welcome to Paradise as among the top three most influential albums in the contemporary Christian genre.

Should Trinity Western University have been denied their law school accreditation because they don’t want their students to “be” gay?
Trinity Western is a private, evangelical university that requires its students and staff to abide by a code of conduct. (no sex before marriage, no adultery, no homosexual relationships, etc.) It’s because of this code, that the Supreme Court Of Canada denied their application to have an accredited law school.

Starting this Sunday, Drew will be visiting different places of worship and exploring various religious tribes, during the month of July.
