  • Randy Stonehill — Icon of The Christian Rock Movement
Imagine the onstage magnetism of Mick Jagger, the lyrical brilliance of Bob Dylan and the personal fragility of Brian Wilson… that was Larry Norman – The Godfather Of Christian Rock. His good friend, Randy Stonehill stars in a new expose about Larry’s complicated life called FALLEN ANGEL: THE OUTLAW LARRY NORMAN. This new documentary by Emmy nominated Canadian filmmaker David Di Sabatino, recounts the rise of the rock 'n' roll 'Billy Graham' of the 1970s through to the height of success as the visionary behind Solid Rock Records before a personal meltdown and subsequent fall from grace exiled him to the margins of the Christian subculture he helped create. Too religious for the rock 'n' rollers but too rock 'n' roll for the religious crowd, Larry Norman was the perpetual outsider who ultimately imploded under the weight of trying to fuse his position as the musical voice of the Jesus movement with his desire for '70s rock superstar status. Is he the misunderstood musical prophet of the Christian world? Is he an outlaw conning the faithful? Larry Norman is a walking contradiction, partly truth and partly fiction. Fallen Angel is a rock 'n' roll epic of biblical proportions. (Toronto screening featuring LIVE music with Randy Stonehill - Q&A with the director, David DiSabatino, Wednesday, February 23rd from 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM at The Revue Cinema.)

This week on The Counsel of Many: A guy has just found out that his girlfriend, who he was about to propose to, gave her virginity away to another guy while they were broken up and wants to know if he still should marry her or not.

"My girlfriend and I broke up about a year ago after dating for a couple of years. We just got back together again, which I really consider to be an answer to prayer. We’ve been talking seriously about getting married next year and both of us really feel like this is God’s will. That is until I found out that while we were broken up, she had sex with the guy she was dating for a few months. This new bit of information has totally wrecked me! I am a virgin and very proud of it. I’ve always wanted to marry a virgin. My girlfriend USED to be a virgin. As far as I knew, she still was a virgin. Then out of nowhere she lays this on me. I kinda freaked out a bit, and haven’t talked to her since. She knew how important this was to me. Anyway, now I’m confused and not sure if I want to be married to this girl who gave it away to someone else. I have friends who have told me to just let it go, forgive her and proceed with the original plan of marrying who I felt was the girl of my dreams. But I just can’t get past the fact that she has slept with someone else. I just can’t get past the fact that I was saving myself for another – someone who was also saving themselves for me. God told me years ago that I would marry a virgin. Now what? "

  • TDMS Banter
The beginning and the end of the show is like any good sandwich. The stuff in the middle is what it's all about - The rest is just crust! Sometimes it's worth listening to. Sometimes - not so much.
