Jon Davis — Recording Artist
Possessed of a delicate, almost chameleonic voice, you can hear distant similarities in style from James Taylor to Nick Drake, Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Royal Wood, to Lindsey Buckingham. His latest release – Open Shore, speaks to a challenging but triumphant journey and Jon colours this disc with a full complement of smart, insightful lyrics across hook-laden melodies, caressing folk and jazz with an indie-seasoned rock edge, leavened with strong elements of fluff-free pop. Throughout are messages of hope, and the search for endless possibility. Through Open Shore, Jon Davis challenges how we view our world and what we can do to make it better. It’s an uplifting wake-up call, offering us the encouragement we need to get past personal trials by showing us how to touch the beauty. Anyone looking to appreciate this for themselves should earmark Jon's CD release on Friday, April 26th at Toronto hotspot, The Rivoli. -

Heather Gingerich — Principal at Ground Truth Environmental Reconciliation Services
As a PhD student in "Maternal-child health and drinking water chemistry" (E.coli is just the tip of the iceberg), Heather was driven to the brink of insanity by listening to environment and health authorities "mis-speak" on the topic of water chemistry and health. So she decided to take matters into her own hands (Erin Brokovich style) and designed a series of smart-phone apps that bring real-data in real-time into the hands of the key decision-makers in terms they understand so that they can make the best and healthiest consumer choice instead of slowly poisoning the people they love because they didn't know what was really in the water. Her specialties: water chemistry as it pertains to infant nutrition, maternal-child health, childhood cancers, autism, SIDS, Down Syndrome, learning disorders, policy analysis, healthcare economics, legislation (health and environment), and indigenous traditional knowledge. -

Julie Anne
In February of 2012, Julie Anne began a blog to share personal stories of her experience at an abusive church that she had left. “I did this because I discovered that the negative reviews I had posted about this church on Google Reviews had been removed. A month after I started my blog, my former pastor and church sued me and four other former members, including my adult daughter, for defamation. Their lawsuit asked for $500,000 in damages. Since we won the lawsuit in July, I have continued to blog about spiritual abuse, how to recover from it, disturbing trends in church, and other topics and agendas that can lead people to question their faith.”

The Counsel of Many
This week on the Counsel Of Many: Someone wants to know what it is that makes one's life – successful!
"Ok, this might sound a little weird, but I have been reading about philosophy lately. And to make it a bit more interesting, I've been inspired to do a little experiment of my own. I was listening to a talk to PhD students in which the lecturer said that if his students do not finish their PhD this does not mean that they're NOT a success. I completely agree! However, this got me thinking about what it is then, that makes for a successful life? So what I want to ask is, what do you and your listeners think makes a successful life? That's it. Simple right? Or not?" -
