  • Religious Tribes Compete For The Soul Of One Person!
Three years ago we did it and people thought we were crazy. Well make room for crazy because it's back... soulSURVIVOR!
Tribal Leaders explain to our soulSURVIVOR what it is that their Tribe actually believes! And the Tribal Leaders will NOT have immunity! Our soulSURVIVOR will be able to challenge, critique, or question any aspect of all Tribal codes! At the end of the contest, our soulSURVIVOR will then decide which Tribe presented the most compelling case for faith – Then reveal to us if they’ll be joining that Tribe!

THIS WEEK: Due to personal and health issues, our previous soulSURVIVOR Ryan is unable to continue participating with the show. So today we would like to introduce to you our new soulSURVIVOR 2016 - GREGG!
CLICK HERE to learn more about our NEW soulSURVIVOR.

Also joining us: Dr. James A. Beverley Jim Beverley's books have been a constant resource for Drew as he interviews various religious leaders. Today, our soulSURVIVOR will have the opportunity to ask Dr. Beverley questions after listening to four religious Tribal leaders explain their faith.

TRIBAL COUNCIL: At the end of today's segment, one of our finalists who weren't chosen to be this year's soulSURVIVOR, will join us to give their thoughts on our 2016 soulSURVIVOR'S interview with each Tribal Leader. So stay tuned to hear what the Tribal Council has to say!

Special Guests

  • Gayle Scott — Senior Faculty of The Enneagram Institute
For thousands of years, spiritual teachers from many different traditions have reminded us of the richness of the human spirit and its potentials. But without real self-knowledge, it is not possible to awaken to the deeper truths of the soul or to sustain whatever degree of realization we have attained. One of the most powerful tools for understanding ourselves and others is the Enneagram, an ancient symbol of unity and diversity, change and transformation.

LAST WEEK: We discussed Personality Type 8 The Challenger - The Powerful, Dominating Type: Self-Confident, Decisive, Willful, and Confrontational

THIS WEEK: Type 9 The Peacemaker - The Easygoing, Self-Effacing Type: Receptive, Reassuring, Agreeable, and Complacent.
Type 1 The Reformer - The Rational, Idealistic Type: Principled, Purposeful, Self-Controlled, and Perfectionistic

  • Dr. Paul Metzger — Author of Evangelical Zen: A Christian's Spiritual Travels With a Buddhist Friend
Evangelical Zen is part "Augustine's Confessions" and part Robert Pirsig's "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance." Paul Louis Metzger, an Evangelical Christian, reflects on his spiritual journey -an inner pilgrimage of sorts- that weaves through a physical forty-day journey with his family to Japan. The experiences of that journey, the beauties of Japan, its culture, and its religion become for him a lens on a deeper quest. Paul is searching for and, he believes, finding a global humanity in conversation with Kyogen, his Buddhist friend.

  • Sammy Rhodes — Author of THIS IS AWKWARD: How Life’s Uncomfortable Moments Open the Door to Intimacy and Connection
Sammy Rhodes may share funny satirical bits about Christianity and other things on Twitter, but behind the 140 characters he is limited to share with his 117,000+ followers, is deeper wisdom gained from a lifetime of feeling, what Rhodes so fondly calls, awkward. It’s a feeling everyone can relate to, and according to Rhodes it’s a feeling we shouldn’t ignore or avoid. He explains why in his debut book release appropriately titled THIS IS AWKWARD. According to Rhodes, although feeling awkward is uncomfortable, it is also necessary in order to break down the barriers we as humans so easily put up in order to protect ourselves. “Awkwardness is an invitation to vulnerability, and vulnerability is where intimacy and connection are found,” he writes. Rhodes is not shy about addressing topics often skirted or glossed over in the name of not being awkward. He writes honestly about depression, pornography, addiction, shame, and he even opens up about the scandal surrounding his previous Twitter persona @ProdigalSam, in which he was accused of plagiarism. In his vulnerability and characteristic wittiness, he exposes that beneath the uncomfortable feeling of awkwardness is a deep and commonly felt need to be known by others and accepted fully. “The truth about awkward moments is that they’re awkward because we long to be embraced as we are, not as we should be,” he explains. “I genuinely believe that our awkwardness and awkward moments are invitations to know more deeply the grace of God.”
