APRIL FOOL'S SHOW

Special Guests

  • Andy Kindler — Comedian, Actor (Everyone Loves Raymond)
Andy Kindler is known in comedy circles as a troublemaker. Originally from New York, and now complaining from California, he annoys people all over the world. Andy was a frequent guest and correspondent for The Late Show with David Letterman with over 40 appearances. Each summer at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal he delivers the State of the Industry address to a packed ballroom filled with comics and Hollywood industry types. He is infamous for his scathing attacks on the world of entertainment, including the previously taboo practice of making fun of his fellow comedians. Just as the comedy boom of the nineties was imploding, Andy wrote the "Hack's Handbook" for National Lampoon. This "how-to" guide satirized and exposed tired comedy formulas. Andy currently recurs on IFC's Maron, Fox's hit animation, Bob's Burgers and Comedy Central's Tosh.0. He was a judge on the seventh season of NBC's Last Comic Standing and starred in two half-hour Comedy Central Presents specials. Other noteworthy credits include the HBO Young Comedians Special, Conan, The Daily Show, Wizards of Waverly Place, Dr. Katz Professional Therapist, Home Movies and The Larry Sanders Show. He is also the host of Season 4 and 5 of Hulu's standup series, Coming to the Stage. Andy is often recognized for playing the life-affirming character "Andy" on the CBS sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond.

  • Simon Donato — Host of Television’s BOUNDLESS, Author of The Boundless Life: 13 Lessons Learned the Hard Way
Filming the hit television series Boundless, Simon Donato has raced thousands of human-powered kilometres across the globe—from the frigid tundra of Iceland to the searing heat of the Sahara, journeys that strip away the regular trappings of life and pit us against ourselves and the natural world. There are no modern conveniences to lean on as crutches, and every metre gained is earned through both physical and mental effort. In his compelling first book, Simon details the quest for adventure and the opportunities to test ourselves in a very primal way—in ways that we aren’t able to in our lives very much anymore. Describing the key moments and adventures that put him on the path to Boundless, Simon takes you on an adventure-filled journey around the globe and shows how you can apply his lessons and experience to your everyday life. Adventurous, ambitious and competitive, Simon Donato is the driving force behind the hit television series Boundless. With a PhD in geology, Donato has travelled extensively to race and explore the planet. When not testing the limits of his body, he also runs his oatmeal company, Stoked Oats and Adventure Science. Donato is a Fellow International of the Explorers Club and past chair of the Canadian Chapter. He is also a member of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society College of Fellows. Today, Adventure Science collaborates with industry, governments and researchers to conduct discovery expeditions, map uncharted territory and contribute to search-and-rescue missions around the world. • Jason Micheli — Author of Cancer Is Funny: Keeping Faith in Stage-Serious Chemo
Jason Micheli is a young pastor battling a rare and aggressive cancer. He turns his very healthy sense of humor - dark, ironic, and charmingly silly - to his situation, along with profound theological reflections. “Being deadly serious in the chemo room is the surest way to feel seriously dead already," he says. He has mantle cell lymphoma, a rare and aggressive cancer -- one that almost always affects only men in their old age—not 37 year olds like Micheli, executive pastor at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Alexandria VA. “I like to think I’m unique in all things, and it turns out I am, in the case of diseases,” he says. But here’s what Micheli wants you to know if you or someone you love has cancer: “Cancer is funny, too. No, wait, it really is. Any ailment that results in pubic hair wigs being actual products in the marketplace simply is funny.” As he struggled with despair and faced his mortality, he resolved that cancer would not kill his spirit, faith, or sense of humor. Bracing, irreverent humor animates his new book, “a no-BS take on what it’s like to journey through stage-serious cancer,” Micheli says. “I hope this book will help you or someone you love laugh through the crucible of cancer.” The laughter that Micheli encourages is not to be confused with happiness. “I have stage serious cancer, I’d be crop circles crazy if I were happy about it," he acknowledges. But after eight cycles of nine chemo drugs, he's convinced that laughter is still the best medicine: “Laughter is the surest sign you’re not alone, because joy is the most unmistakable indication of God’s presence." After eight excruciating rounds of chemo, Micheli’s tumors were gone. Doctors don’t talk about remission with mantel cell lymphoma—he could still have mantle cell percolating in his bone marrow—but it’s as good news as he could have hoped for. “I don’t know what the future will bring. I don’t know if this story is over,” he writes. “In whatever life my family and I have left are more marvels than we can count.”

  • Abdominal
    CHECK THIS VIDEO OUT!
“The finest in middle-aged hip-hop!” For fourteen years, DJ Format and rapper Abdominal have been entertaining crowds from Toronto to the UK. Now the hip-hop stars are back at it in 2017 with their new album and a 16-date UK tour, which includes a show at London’s legendary venue Electric Ballroom in Camden. The new album, Still Hungry, will be released April 28th 2017 on AAF Records via Kartel Music Group. The new album comes off the heels of a huge UK winter tour in 2015 that commemorated ten years since their last performance together in the country. The tour quickly sold out in several cities, which cemented the duo’s desire to return to the studio to create their first full-length album together. While they both have collaborated on each other’s solo records, Still Hungry marks their first joint album. The brand new LP boasts the best of what they each bring to the hip-hop community: funky, up-tempo and slick beats, coupled with intelligent, savvy lyrics. The LP also showcases a grittier, harder sound, reflecting the maturity of the two, giving their audience some head-bobbing bangers that could rock any concert hall. (Wanna know why Drew finally invited a rapper on the show?
