Special Guests

  • Ruth Graham — Author, Bible Teacher, Daughter of Billy & Ruth Graham
A favourite guest on our show, we'll talk with Ruth and find out how she and her family are coping after the recent loss of her mother.

  • Antony Tchividsian — Grandchild of Billy & Ruth Graham
The grandchildren of Billy Graham have created a website for people around the world to submit their tributes to the man who has had such a powerful impact on so many lives. Why do we wait until someone has died before we tell them how we really feel? Antony, the son of Gigi, Billy & Ruth Graham's eldest, joins us to share this magnificent vision of tribute.

  • Rev. Eugene Rivers — President of the National Ten Point Leadership Foundation
Colin McCartney — Executive Director of Urban Promise
"The man who saved Boston!" Rev. Rivers has appeared on CNN's Hardball, NBC's Meet the Press, PBS's The Charlie Rose Show, and has been in publications such as Newsweek, The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The Boston Herald and The Boston Globe! He has lectured at numerous universities, including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Calvin College. Rev. Rivers recently met with the Mayor & Police Chief of Toronto to discuss a way forward amidst the recent rise in crime and gun violence in one of the most multicultural cities in the world!
Joined by Rev. Rivers is Colin McCartney, Executive Director of Urban Promise. Can the Church really do anything? What's happening to the city of Toronto? Are we becoming just like another American metropolis of crime like New York or Los Angeles? Depending on which set of statistics you read, Toronto's crime stats don't actually rate all that bad, especially when compared to our American counterparts. However, there's no question that there is a need for greater involvement by the churches of Toronto. But will their involvement actually be practical and helpful, or will the Jesus people just hold crusades and rallies carrying placards that state the obvious? Also joining us will be Jonathon Knight, an inner city youth worker on the frontline!

  • Mark Pinsky — Author of The Gospel According to the Simpsons: Bigger (and Possibly Even) Better! Edition
Once denounced for its irreverence, after it's 400th episode, The Simpsons still grapple with many of the same religious and moral issues facing the rest of us in non-cartoon society - Gay marriage; a child's conversion to Buddhism; socially awkward and weird Christian neighbours! The Simpsons have paved the way for other envelope pushing animated sitcoms, which also address the theme of religion, like South Park, Family Guy & King of The Hill. However, theologians from across denominations agree that The Simpsons is "the most consistent and intelligent treatment of religion on TV." Mark joins us to chat about the real and surreal aspects of The Gospel According To The Simpsons.
