  • We Love Tim The Tool!
Last week, Tim The Tool happened to mention to Drew that his depression had been getting worse lately. So this week, Drew decided he would surprise Tim by having Mark Vander Vennen (Executive Director of Shalem Mental Health Network) call in to the show. Mark was able to get Tim to share a little about what's been going on and the boys all had a meaningful yet light hearted discussion about the intersection of mental health and faith. #letsREALLYtalkaboutit

A Radio Host And A Preacher Walk Into A Book...

  • N.T. Wright — Author of Simply Good News: Why The Gospel Is News & What Makes It Good
The bishop, Bible scholar, modern heir to C. S. Lewis, and revered author of Simply Christian and Simply Jesus offers a fresh look at the Gospel, explaining why Jesus’ message is “good news” and why it is more timely and transforming today than we know. The Gospel means good news. But if the message has been around for 2,000 years, what makes it significant today? What’s so “good” about stories involving damnation, violence, and a God who sacrifices his only son? Noted Bible scholar N.T. Wright shows us how Christians today have lost sight of what the “good news” of the gospel really is. In Simply Good News, he takes us back in time to reveal how the people of the first-century—the gospel’s original audience—would have received Jesus’ message. He offers a clear and thoughtful analysis of what the “good news” really is, and applies it to our lives today, revealing its power to transform us.
*N. T. Wright is the former bishop of Durham in the Church of England and one of the world's leading Bible scholars. He is now serving as the Chair of New Testament and Early Christianity at the School of Divinity at the University of St. Andrews. For twenty years he taught New Testament studies at Cambridge, McGill, and Oxford Universities, and he has been featured on ABC News, Dateline, and The Colbert Report.

This week on The Pub Crawl:
Paul Robertson - Youth Culture Specialist www.paulrobertson.ca
Kevin Miller - Film Maker www.hellbound.com

    TOPICS:

1/ The Seattle Seahawks quarterback, Russell Wilson, thinks that God made him throw 4 interceptions in order to set up his team's dramatic comeback. And according to a new study, 1 in 4 Americans actually believe that God decides who will win the Superbowl. (Now we know why the good ol' USofA is no longer the world's greatest superpower!) Are Americans really that theologically ignorant OR if God cares about the sparrow, then is there a chance that God cares about sports as well?

2/ Now that marijuana is being legalized in more and more places, what does this mean for those who believed marijuana to be an illegal substance and therefore not an “approved activity” by their sacred scriptures? Christianity used to be pretty hung up on drinking and now seems to be pretty much accepted in most churches. Do you see pot going the same way? If your clergy legally smoked pot, for medical reasons or otherwise, would you want them to resign?

3/ Rapid Fire: Are teens worser than ever before? If marriages don't last, why bother? Why not just really commit to each other and live together? Do you think Hell scares anyone anymore?
