Having been named by Time as one of the “25 Most Influential Americans,” Robert Thurman has cultivated a worldwide awareness of Tibet through his writing, translation of important Buddhist texts, and activism. He is the co-founder and president of Tibet House U.S., along with actor Richard Gere and modern composer Philip Glass (among others) at the behest of the 14th H.H. Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso. Mr. Thurman is also the Je Tsong Khapa Professor of Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Studies at Columbia University, holding the first endowed chair in this field of study in the United States. Tony Kriz — "Tony the Beat Poet" from Donald Miller's Blue Like Jazz, Author of ALOOF & Neighbors And Wise Men
NEIGHBORS AND WISE MEN
Neighbors and Wise Men introduces captivating dialogues and unexpected moments with God that go beyond the confines of a conventional religious system and offer the chance for powerful life transformation. Get to know Tony Kriz (known by many as "Tony the Beat Poet" in Donald Miller's best-selling book Blue Like Jazz) through his real-life conversations and experiences which prove that God can and will use anyone and anything— from Muslim lands to anti-religious academics to post-Christian cultures—to make Himself known.
ALOOF
We have all longed for God to be tangible. Some might sway to worship music, others go on missions, others fast from food. The universal quest is to feel the divine . . . and yet the divine seems aloof, even shy. In this narrative-driven book, Tony Kriz leads the reader on a journey of “orchestrated epiphanies” along the eternal quest to tangibly encounter God, including the unpredictable moments that give us hope, and even more so, the long gaps between those moments that challenge our faith. -
Dr. Michael Guillen — Author of Amazing Truths: How the Bible and Science Agree
Is biblical faith inconsistent with today’s science? In Amazing Truths, renowned Emmy-winning ABC News science editor and former Harvard physics instructor, Dr. Michael Guillen uses his down-to-earth style and lifelong study of the universe to reveal ten astonishing truths affirmed by both ancient Scripture and modern science. For Christians this means a stunning affirmation of the Bible. For everyone, it means that no one needs to choose between reason and faith. The two complement each other spectacularly. Dr. Guillen’s education, experience and passion for science combine to produce a book that will help readers see the true connection between science and faith, answering some of life’s biggest questions, such as: Does absolute truth exist? Are humans truly unique? Is it possible to communicate with God? How much about the universe do we actually know? How could Jesus be fully God and fully man? Dr. Guillen shares fascinating stories from his many years as science editor at Good Morning America, Nightline and 20/20, relevant stories from today’s headlines and jaw-dropping discoveries about the universe, all of which prove that faith is not simply an ancient, outdated concept with no modern-day value. Indeed, in some cases, science is only now discovering fundamental truths that the Bible has presented for centuries – which is likely to surprise many readers. A fascinating read, Amazing Truths will help the reader see the innate harmony between the scientific worldview and God. Readers will see for themselves what Dr. Guillen, a theoretical physicist and a devout Christian, has discovered in a lifetime of serious exploration: that science and faith aren’t at odds but, in fact, are the ultimate power couple.
