Special Guests

  • Kelita — Juno Nominated Recording Artist
What a career! Five Juno Award Nominations (Canada’s equivalent of the Grammy), CCMA’s (Canadian Country Music Association) Entertainer of the Year Nomination, CCMA’s Vista Rising Star of the Year Award, Appearances on Tommy Hunter Show, Nashville Now, CMT and Much Music. She has shared stages with such notables as k.d. Lang, Reba McEntire and Jim Carrey. She gave a break to an aspiring 19-year-old from Timmins Ontario named Eileen Twain who sang back up on Kelita’s hit Song “Too Hot to Handle”. Today we know her as the Canadian great - Shania Twain. However, Kelita has had more than her fair share of tragedy as well. All of it though, has helped to make her performances incredibly vulnerable and honest. From slapstick comedy delivered by her host of zany unique characters, up tempo country and Gospel, to ballads that stir deep emotions, Kelita’s versatility and diversity causes her to captivate the hearts of her listeners and open their minds to messages with universal appeal. She has become a superstar with a mission.

  • Patricia & Alana Raybon — Authors of UNDIVIDED: A Muslim Daughter, Her Christian Mother, Their Path To Peace
They didn’t talk. Not for 10 years. Not about faith anyway. Instead, this Christian mother and her Muslim daughter tiptoed with pain around the deepest gulf of their lives – the daughter’s choice to leave the church, convert to Islam and become a practicing Muslim. In their new book UNDIVIDED, award-winning author Patricia Raybon, a devout Christian, and her impassioned daughter Alana, a devout Muslim, explore their impasse and struggle. It’s an intimate, vulnerable look at their brave attempt to face their differences, learn to hear each other, forge mutual respect and peace—while finally discussing what they avoided for 10 painful years. Written as a real-time back-and-forth, the book relies on both women to transparently disclose feelings in alternating sections, with Patricia opening every chapter and Alana closing each one. Readers witness an intense, private conversation, as both writers respond to one another, grappling with the previous portions’ revelations, responses, and accusations.

  • This Week's Recording Artist — Carmanah
    CHECK THIS VIDEO OUT!
Carmanah is a musical collaboration of friends old & new, drawing from their collective hearts to create one sonorous source. Male and female harmonies, a fiddle, rhythmic guitars, a lap slide guitar and a funky drum and bass section all drive the energy of Carmanah's music. Their multifaceted range of influence elicits the band's self-described "folk rock world" sound tag. Carmanah will leave you feeling loved, cherished, raptured & exhausted. 1/ Ashley Madison (website for married people looking for a little something on the side) reports that more women sign up right after Mother's Day than any other time of the year. WHY?
The feeling is that these women have an expectation that their husbands will do something special for them on this day and when the man doesn't (maybe because he's thinking that his kids should do something special, not him) apparently it becomes “the last straw”! So – in order from most responsible to least responsible, who's to blame for this statistic? The women? The husbands? The kids? Our consumeristic society? Ashley Madison? 50 Shades Of Grey? The mother-in-law?

2/ MOM-ISMS – What are some nuggets of wisdom your mom used to say to you?
*After leaving the front door open - “Were you raised in a barn?
*When you didn't want to eat your vegetables - “There are people starving in Africa who would be happy to have this!
*Just before giving you a spanking - “This will hurt me more than it hurts you!
