  • Rob Bell — New York Time's Bestselling Author of How to Be Here: A Guide to Creating a Life Worth Living
The popular pastor and New York Times bestselling author of Love Wins and What We Talk About When We Talk About God shows us how to pursue and realize our dreams, live in the moment, and joyfully do the things that make us come alive. Each of us was created for something great—we just need to figure out what it is and find the courage to do it. Whether it’s writing the next great American novel, starting a business, or joining a band, Rob Bell wants to help us make those dreams become reality. Our path is ours and ours alone to pursue, he reminds us, and in doing so, we derive great joy because we are living our passions. How to Be Here lays out concrete steps we can use to define and follow our dreams, interweaving engaging stories, lessons from biblical figures, insights gleaned from Rob’s personal experience, and practical advice. Rob gives you the support and insight you need to silence your critics, move from idea to action, take the first step, find joy in the work, persevere through hard times, and surrender to the outcome. Like Stephen Pressfield’s classic The War of Art, How to Be Here will inspire readers to seek the lives they were created to lead.

  • This Week's Recording Artist: Jacob Moon
Every artist starts out with heroes. But not every artist gets asked by their heroes to join them, as artists, on their stage. It's a compliment that Jacob Moon keeps getting from the musicians who have inspired him since he started as a singer-songwriter out in Hamilton, Ontario. Artists like Rush, Marillion and Gordon Lightfoot have taken a shine to Moon's renditions of their songs and have lavished him praise and a spotlight that has gained him international attention. It is these inventive covers that draws the fans in, but it's Moon's original material and his compelling live show that make them pull up a chair. Ron Sexsmith has said: "Jacob Moon is an exceedingly gifted and watchable performer....seems completely at home on stage" and Danny Miranda (bassist for Queen) concurs "Tremendous command of the instrument...amazing voice. I can honestly say that I am overwhelmed by his music". Jacob Moon is known for his giftedness as a singer, songwriter of award-winning pop and folk songs. He is also a master of the art of ‘live looping’, a performance style where he records what he’s playing in real time and layers sound on sound to make one guitar sound like an orchestra.

This Week on The Pub Crawl: Tal Bachman & Jerry Agar

    TOPICS:
1/ Is extending grace to Rob Ford after his death hypocritical or the right thing to do?
Toronto's media seemed to gush about a man they used as sarcastic news fodder for so long. Is that hypocritical or graciously Canadian/classy? Apparently, this was a man who subjected his family to some not so great treatment. Does that side of a Rob Ford get swept under the carpet now that he's sadly passed at the age of 46? I guess we all say nice stuff at funerals, but should he be honoured as opposed to simply remembered? What is grace?

2/ What's the REAL question behind the Ghomeshi trail?
CBC icon Jian Ghomeshi has been found innocent of all charges against him. (four counts of sexual assault and one count of choking) Lawyers have praised the decision even amidst a groundswell of #IBelieveSurvivors protest. Is this simply “battle of the sexes” played out in an extreme and public forum? Oscar Wilde said “Everything in the world is about sex except sex. Sex is about power.” Or is it just an isolated incident of a bad man doing bad things to women?

3/ Who would you rather have lead the fight against ISIS? Hilary or Trump?
If the American election comes down to:
A/ a “political woman” on the inside
    or
B/ a “misogynistic man” on the outside
Who would you vote for when it comes to protecting Canada from terror? ('Cause our Prime Minister Justin might need a really big brother!)
