Special Guests

  • Scott MacIntyre — Recording Artist, American Idol Finalist
Scott MacIntyre has come a long way. From his early days as a classical concert pianist to capturing the hearts of millions of American Idol viewers with his engaging presence and vocal prowess, he has never let challenges keep him from achieving his dreams. Having performed with such noteable acts as Michael W Smith, Jeremy Camp, and The Band Perry, he has traveled the globe inspiring audiences with his music and story. MacIntyre’s latest project, Lighthouse, boasts incredible songwriting, vocal aptitude, and inspiring testimony that could make even the most wary of listeners hopeful. Produced by MacIntyre, Matt Bronleewe (Jars of Clay, Natalie Imbruglia), and Kyle Lee (Michael W. Smith, TobyMac), Lighthouse offers eleven strong tunes which speak of faith, hope, love, and the power of a transformed life for Christ. Included are the first single “Fifty Second Chances” and two tracks featuring fellow Idol alumni Danny Gokey and Skylar Laine. Blind from birth, MacIntyre’s journey of faith has been anything but easy. At nineteen years old, he was diagnosed with stage-four kidney failure. After a year on dialysis, his college piano teacher’s wife donated her kidney to MacIntyre and saved his life. It was less than a year later that he auditioned for American Idol. In 2014, just a few days before the release of Lighthouse, MacIntyre shared with the world his need for a second kidney transplant. Through prayer and the sharing of his story, that kidney came in the spring of 2015, when a young woman heard his story on the radio and decided to give the gift of life. MacIntyre had his second successful transplant in the summer of 2015. As an author and in-demand key-note speaker, MacIntyre has shared his story with corporations, health care and education institutions, non-profits, and churches across North America and beyond. In his autobiographical book By Faith, Not By Sight he writes about how he learned to face his fears and trust God’s plan for his life, even in the midst of incredible adversity. The book was recently translated and re-published in Indonesian.

  • Jefferson Bethke — YouTube Sensation, Author of It's Not What You Think: Why Christianity is About So Much More Than Going to Heaven When You Die
Jefferson Bethke is a millennial who gets why his generation is leaving religion behind. Christianity, he explains, is a bounced cheque for his generation. It hasn’t delivered what it promised. But Jefferson isn’t walking away from the faith, instead, he’s pointing his peers back to the beautiful truths of a Jewish rabbi who lived two thousand years ago. Jefferson is a spoken-word artist who shot to YouTube fame with a provocative video -- “Why I Hate Religion but Love Jesus” – which has almost 30 million views to date. He continues to bring truth to the people with his YouTube videos (more than 100 videos totalling 62 million views), speaking around the world and a New York Times best-selling book under his belt - Jesus > Religion. His latest book, It’s Not What You Think challenges the status quo of contemporary Christianity with the world-changing message Jesus actually lived. “One of the scariest questions we have to ask ourselves is: what if we aren’t seeing Jesus properly? What implication does that have for our lives? What if Jesus isn’t who we think?” writes Bethke. “When we step back into the world Jesus experienced, the stories of the New Testament shift from black & white to vibrant color.”

Dividing your belongings and finances, sorting out custody of children and support payments is a stressful and complicated process. It can be overwhelming when your marriage breaks down, but the fact is that people of faith end up divorcing and unfortunately, many feel a sense of rejection from their place of worship rather than support and healing. When the painful decision to divorce has been made, it's important to have someone that really knows the law but also understands your personal & spiritual needs. Dawn Bennett is a Family Lawyer who appreciates that divorce is a reality, and there are many in need of legal council.

Journey

  • Alex The Intern
For the last few months, we have had one of the best interns we've ever had, working hard as our Social Media Intern. Alex has patiently endured all the in-studio nonsense (and smells) as well as all the “spiritual/religious” nonsense. You see, Alex grew up in an Orthodox Christian house but has since become agnostic. Since this is Alex's second last show with us, we thought we'd ask her what her experience was like having to sit through 4 hours of “spiritual” radio each week and then post about all our guests on our social media. We know she loved the interview with The High Priest Of The Church Of Satan, but who else made an impact on her, and why? What actually makes sense to 20-somethings who have given up on religion?
