  • THE HELL OF GRENVILLE — PART 2
W5 is a Canadian news magazine television series produced by CTV News. It’s the longest-running current affairs/newsmagazine program in North America and the third longest-running Canadian television program. W5 recently featured an exposé of alleged abuses that took place at Grenville Christian College. (The segment was called “In The Name Of God”) Grenville, now closed, was one of Canada’s premier boarding schools. A couple of week’s ago on our show, two former students talked about their experiences - Heather Bakken and Andrew J. Hale-Byrne. (Andrew wrote about his experiences in his book called GRENVILLE.) Since that show aired on April 9th, we’ve been contacted by other students. Today, we speak with four former Grenville students. Some have similar stories of abuse and others claim that their time at Grenville Christian College were some of the best years of their lives.

  • Dr. James Christie — Apocalypse Scholar, Author of The Gold Mine
Is big change coming? Will we soon see the world as we have never seen it before? Mass shootings. Terrorism. Anarchy. Passenger jets downed. Rampant homicide. Cartel violence. Beheadings. Whole communities taken hostage. Suicide bombers. “And another horse came forth, a red one, and authority was given to its rider to withdraw peace from the earth, and that people would kill one another; and a great sword was given to him.” ~ Apocalypse 6.4 This is just one of the global predictions from the Apocalypse of St. John the Divine that point to imminent, drastic changes ahead. This and five other “precursor” prophecies, although almost 2,000 years old now, are coming to fulfillment before our very eyes. Is it time to take them seriously? Is it time to pay attention and prepare ourselves? Are worse things yet to come? After years of dedicated study, Dr. Christie has written a book entitled, The Gold Mine, to lead readers in a careful journey through the Apocalypse (also known as the book of Revelation.) He does not tell us that we have to accept his interpretations; instead, he repeatedly points us back to the text of the Apocalypse and invites us to evaluate for ourselves whether his conclusions are consistent with it.

*On MAY 5th @ 6:30 PM, come and hear a talk about the accuracy of 2000 year old prophecies that will challenge your view of the future for the human race on earth. The Patmos Project presents - Big Change Coming! - at the Palmerston Theatre in Toronto. It is the purpose of The Patmos Project to inspire much awareness and conversation about the prophecies of the Apocalypse and in so doing to help shape what will become the final product, an audio-video interpretive reading of this ancient book. It is hoped that the newly released book,The Gold Mine, will seem a credible starting point for discussions to follow. The main premise of Dr. Christie’s book is that, according to the Apocalypse itself, the future of humanity is in the hands of its Creator God. All that is predicted to come upon the earth is in perfect conformity to the purposes of this God; conversely, this means that the earth and its inhabitants are not merely subject to random or cause and effect outcomes. What is coming is by design.

  • Shelene Bryan — Author of Ridiculous Faith:Experience the Power of an Absurdly, Unbelievably Good God
What if you could live your entire life with the kind of split-second faith that crying out to God brings? In Ridiculous Faith, founder of Skip1.org and bestselling author of Love, Skip, Jump, Shelene Bryan shares simple truths that have changed her life from self-centered and fear-driven to a life of supernaturally empowered confidence. Bryan calls on Christians to live a life of faith – a faith that conquers all fear and is “absurdly, unbelievably good because it depends on an absurdly, unbelievably good God". Intertwining personal stories with examples from Scripture, Bryan encourages readers to take a leap of faith, even if it’s only one step at a time, to truly experience life as God created. Bryan shares practical ways to combat fear in today’s troubled world with the kind of faith only God can provide, and the importance of moving beyond what’s comfortable to live a full life. “When I got out of my comfortable church seat to see Jesus where He said He would be, my faith began to change, radically change,” writes Bryan.

LIVE! on TDMS - Devoted Souly to the Art of Music

  • This Week's Recording Artist: Ginger St. James
With her sultry and powerful voice, her sassy and commanding stage presence, and a repertoire that blends country, rock n’ roll and blues, Ginger St. James packs a lot of entertainment into her 5-foot frame. Following the tradition of country songbirds like Loretta Lynn, Ginger writes and sings music from real experience; growing up on the family farm, being broke, having fun, and love gone wrong. Her early life in Binbrook, Ontario was heavily influenced by American southern culture, listening to country radio in the barn. Although trips with Dad to the vintage car and rockabilly shows had their impact, her signature song ‘Ramblin’ Country Bumpkin’, proves that this gal is more Hee Haw than Happy Days. A born entertainer, St. James began writing songs and telling jokes at 3 years old. Inspired by watching musicals, cabaret and listening to Big Band 8 tracks at Nanny and Grandad’s, she enrolled in jazz and tap dance lessons, performed in school plays and spent a summer at the Theatre Aquarius acting camp. She began a successful career as a dancer, actress and model, driven by her natural charisma and passion for the stage. Feeling the most “in her own skin” expressing herself musically, St. James began writing tongue-in-cheek songs that were entertaining lyrically as well and visually and musically. Focusing on singing and learning guitar licks, she eventually moved to Toronto to break into the local roots music scene. There she was contacted by guitarist Snowheel Slim, who became her songwriting partner and bandleader. St. James moved back to Hamilton where she has established a solid fan base, expanding her reach across Ontario and Eastern Canada with countless major festival, fair, theatre and headline appearances.
